Shirley Dopson Obituary
Uvalda, GA- Mrs. Shirley Craft Dopson, age 79, of Uvalda, died Monday, October 26, 2015 at her son's home, after an extended illness. She lived in Montgomery County most of her life, and retired from Montgomery County Elementary School after forty-three years. She also taught school in Hazlehurst, Lumber City, Robert Toombs Christian Academy, Toombs Central, and Baxley. She was a member of the Georgia Retired Teachers Association. She and her late husband were the owners of the Georgia Fry House Restaurant in Uvalda, and Uvalda Auto Parts. She was a member of the Uvalda United Methodist Church, and the Eastern Star in Cedar Crossing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Dopson in 2013; and parents, E.J. and Ethel Gordon Craft.
Mrs. Dopson is survived by two sons, Tal Dopson and wife Pam and Jeffery Dopson and wife Stephanie; one brother, Lamont "Spider" Craft and wife Babs, all of Uvalda; five grandchildren, Lesli Dopson Garrett and husband David of the New Branch Community, Caleb Flowers, Emily Dopson, Anna Grace Dopson, and Levi Dopson, all of Uvalda; three great-grandchildren, Jocey, Asa, and Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 28th at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Bishop Gilbert Wommack, Reverend Ricky McCarty, and Reverend David Daus officiating. Burial will follow in the Uvalda City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
