Darrell B. Loper
January 3, 1936 – February 19, 2024
LODI – Darrell B. Loper, age 88 years old of Lodi, Wis., passed away at home on Monday, February 19, 2024, surrounded by his family.
He was born at home on his farm, the only child of Bernard W. Loper and Irma Schumann Loper.
Darrell was a 1953 graduate of Lodi High School and obtained his technical degree and worked for the U.W. Hospital in Radio Therapy for 33 years.
He married Margaret Marie Rasmussen Loper on April 8, 1961.
Darrell loved to square dance, play dart ball, snowmobile, and was a member of the Yellow Thunder Club. He also loved to hike in the woods and go camping with his family. Darrell was a long-time member of the Lodi Optimist.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 63 years, Marie; daughter, Sheryl Loper (Wayne Ward); son, Christian Loper (Susan Honrud); grandchildren, Steven (Joylynn) Gilles, David (Serena) Gilles, Amy (Chris) Swanson, Will (Jess) Loper, Anita (Ryan) Schultz, and John Loper; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON LODI FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 157 S. Main St., Lodi, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, February 24, 2024. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Family requests memorials be made to Agrace Hospice, Madison Wis.
