Diane Streber Obituary

Diane Marie Streber

April 13, 1945 – Oct. 30, 2023

MADISON – Diane Marie (Farley) Streber, age 78, passed away on Monday, Oct. 30, 2023, in Madison, Wis. She was born on April 13, 1945, in Madison, the daughter of Charles Dunn and Edith Ann Farley.

Diane attended elementary school at St. Bernard Catholic School in Madison and graduated from St. Benedict's High School in Madison. She was united in marriage to Thomas Stephen Streber on June 4, 1966, in Madison. Diane loved being a stay-at-home mom and spent many years doing this until she returned to work as the office manager of Herslofs Ocular Prosthetics, where she spent over 25 years, retiring in 2010.

Diane was an avid reader and instilled a love of reading in her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered as an excellent cook. Many of her children's and grandchildren's fondest memories are of spending time in the kitchen, cooking with their Munga. Diane loved Hallmark movies, watching Jeopardy and doing crossword puzzles daily. She was proud of her Irish heritage, Catholic faith and Catholic education. She was an extremely generous person and always preferred to give rather than to receive. She and her husband, Tom, loved to travel in their later years, with a fondness for Europe and Ireland in particular. She was especially proud of her children and her grandchildren and never tired of hearing about their accomplishments. She will also be remembered for her sharp mind, quick wit and endless knowledge.

Diane leaves behind many who loved her including her husband of 57 years, Thomas of Madison; children, Shannon Streber of Madison, Brent Streber (Noriko Shiomi) of Kyoto, Japan, Danielle Varnell (Robert) of Annapolis, Md., and Lindsay Streber (Scott Dahlhauser) of Madison; grandchildren, Isabella Cruz of Chicago, William, Anna and Maria Varnell, each of Annapolis, Md., and Grant and Tyler Dahlhauser, each of Madison; brothers, Thomas (Patti) Farley of Madison and Kevin Farley of Janesville, Wis.; and numerous nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edith and Charles Farley of Madison.

A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, with a luncheon to follow. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, 2023.

I will remember Diane in Key West "strolling" on Duval Street taking in the sounds and people watching, catching up with Tom at Sloppy Joe's... watching the Sun Set with a Margarita to toast OUR GOOD FORTUNE of having a chance to enjoy this for many years ... than running to catch up with Tom again
