Geoffrey Blume Obituary

Colonel Geoffrey E. Blume

November 9, 1935 - August 22, 2024

Colonel Blume passed surrounded by family, where he lived in Dracut, Massachusetts.

He was the son of Norman and Dorothy Blume, long-time residents of Shorewood Hills, Madison, Wisconsin. Geoffrey attended Shorewood Hills Elementary School, West High School and graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. He was an active member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity and completed the ROTC program at the University.

Growing up, he spent days with his Dad learning to hunt and fish. He loved the outdoors with his loyal dog Buck always at his side. Shortly after graduation, "Jeff" enlisted in the United States Army Corp of Engineers where he served our country with distinction for 25 years, in Europe, Southeast Asia and at home.

Colonel Blume is survived by his wife Phalla; his son Geoffrey Jr. and wife Sierra with two grandchildren Maleigha and Brayden. He is also survived by his sister Nancy Blume Holmes, Leander, Texas and her children Audrey, Geoffrey and Robert. He will be missed by his adopted son Chetra Blume, Phnom Penh, Cambodia and Nich and Dylan Pauls, Dracut, Massachusetts, as well as his many friends around the world.

His remains will be interred in Arlington National Cemetery.
