Gregory Pernot Obituary
April 12, 1952 - January 8, 2026
STOUGHTON - Gregory S. "Greg" Pernot, age 73, of Stoughton, passed away of natural causes on Thursday, January 8, 2026, in Stoughton. He was born on April 12, 1952, in Rockford, Ill., the son of Gerald and Bette (Greenberg) Pernot. He was united in marriage to Joanne Petritz on January 12, 1974, in Rockford, Ill.
Greg graduated from Rockford West High School in 1970 and went on to earn his B.S. degree in education from Northern Arizona University. In recognition of his dedication to teaching, he received the 2015 Wildermuth Award for Excellence in Education. A certified master auto technician, Greg brought more than 50 years of experience in the automotive industry to his work, and he devoted 20 years to teaching technical education at both Stoughton High School and Fort Atkinson High School.
Greg found joy in many pursuits-golfing, fishing, RV traveling, woodworking, and both playing and coaching hockey. Nothing made him prouder than watching his granddaughter glide across the ice. Above all, he treasured every moment spent with his family. Known for his generous spirit, Greg was always willing to offer help. He was the very definition of a "Mr. Fix It," able to take on just about any challenge.
Greg is survived by his wife, Joanne; daughters, Nikki Pernot (Gilbert Lee) and Elizabeth Janowski (Brad Bergen); granddaughter, Lily Janowski; sister, Renee (Neil) Hoxie; special cousins, Tom Greenberg and Paula Carrier; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Bette; and son-in-law, Anthony Janowski.
A celebration of life will be held at CHORUS PUBLIC HOUSE, 154 W. Main St., Stoughton, on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to help support Greg's granddaughter, Lily, in her future college and hockey endeavors.
As Greg always said, "Make it a great day!"
