James Kenneth Halverson
June 15, 1940 - April 25, 2024
James Kenneth Halverson, 83, passed away on April 25, 2024, at Veterans Hospice Care Unit in Madison, WI.
Jim was born on June 15, 1940, to Gilbert and Grace (Johnson) Halverson in Madison. He attended McFarland and Stoughton schools and served in the US Navy from 1957 to 1961. He married Sharon Midthun on September 30, 1961, at West Koshkonong Lutheran Church.
Jim's lifetime work was in trucking for many years working in the local area with his sons.
Jim was a long-time member at West Koshkonong. He enjoyed travel and playing cards with friends and family. He also thoroughly enjoyed many, many big family meals and gatherings and an occasional trip to a casino.
Jim is survived by his wife; a daughter, Jodi Halverson (David Alme); a son Jeffrey; a daughter Julie Matson (Jim Wedel); a daughter-in-law, Rachael (Jeff Smith); a son, Joel (Jackie); a daughter, Jennifer (Todd) Hanson; and a son, Jay (Brenda). Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and four-and-a-half great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Judy Halverson; sister-in-law, Joyce Nett; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kay and Mike Burns; nieces and nephews and great friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; his son, Jonathan (Rachael); a daughter-in-law, Lisa; brother, Arnold; infant brother, Arthur; and brother-in-law, Bruce Nett.
A service will be held on Saturday May 4, 2024, at 11:30 AM at West Koshkonong with a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. A lunch will follow at the church.
An enormous "thank you" to the Veterans Hospice Care Unit for their wonderful care and thoughtfulness. It was greatly appreciated. Thank you to Pastor Paula Geister-Jones.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Carbone Cancer Center or the Tunnels to Towers Organization.
