James "Jim" Kramer

July 22, 1946 - March 4, 2026

James "Jim" C. Kramer, age 79, passed away on March 4, 2026 in Madison, Wisc. He was born in Madison on July 22, 1946 to parents Theodore C. Kramer and Helen J. (Bailey) Kramer Gehri. Jim grew up on the Eastside and graduated from East High in 1964.

After high school, Jim apprenticed as a tile setter which he did very well, but in 1970 he decided to work for Madison Gas & Electric. He spent 38 years there and really enjoyed the work and the people. He loved pheasant hunting and fishing. But, when asked recently what his greatest achievement was he said "his two sons, he felt so very lucky to have them". Jim married Julie Killerlain in 1966 and in January, they celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Jim leaves behind his wife, Julie Kramer; sons, Ted (Lisa), Tom (Melissa); grandson, Kyle (Marissa); great-grandson, Colton; new great-granddaughter due in May, Amelia; and step-granddaughter, Isabella; sisters, Joan Thompson, Penny (Norvin) Manuel; brother, Dean (Karen) Gehri; sisters-in-law, Diane Heindl, Marilyn Jahnke, Lynn Bonfield; and former brother-in-law, Dave Jahnke.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and in-laws, Dick and Gertrude; brother, John; brothers-in-law, Dave Bonfield and Steve Heindl; sister-in-law, Kate Reed; and stepfather, Marvin Gehri.

Jim requested no services. Sorry guys, it's no retirement party all over again…..
