James Wise

1943 - 2026

James P. Wise, M.D., age 82, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, in Scottsdale. He was born on June 16, 1943, in Detroit.

Dr. Wise graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1969. Shortly thereafter, he served in the United States Air Force as a flight surgeon. During his service in Saudi Arabia, he was awarded the Joint Service Commendation Medal in recognition of his outstanding professional skill and devotion to duty.

Following his military service, Dr. Wise completed his ophthalmology residency in 1974 at Henry Ford Hospital, where he met the love of his life, Linda.

Dr. Wise worked for many years as a private practice ophthalmologist in Madison, Wisconsin, later joining Davis Duehr Dean. Throughout his career, he provided compassionate care and built genuine rapport with his patients. He had a deep passion for ophthalmology and traveled to Nicaragua on medical missions to improve the vision of those in need.

Above all, Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was kind and generous to all who knew him. His integrity and warmth will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Linda; his children, Steven (Noelia) and Rachel (Mike Van Meter); his grandchildren, Dylan, Ethan, and Anika; and his brother, Robert (Kathleen Friend).

A celebration of his life will be held at 9:00 a.m. on February 28 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
