Dear Rosemary, Creighton, Travis & Rachel - I am startled and saddened to read of Joe´s passing. A more composed and considerate gentleman cannot be conceived. For nearly half a century Joe generously volunteered untold hours as the Pit´s chief groundskeeper and naturalist. Of course pond activities always came under the heading of recreation, still Joe´s efforts and initiatives were recognized and appreciated by everyone with a stake in the property. I regard the Pit as a legacy of the founding partners who had the foresight to acquire the land and its sparkling water back in 1970. And as such the descendants of those venerable gentlemen will always be welcome to enjoy the resource.
