Julie Brunette Obituary

Julie Ann Brunette

December 22, 1942 - December 18, 2024

Middleton - Julie Ann Brunette, age 81, peacefully passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, having faced her brief battle with cancer with dignity and courage. She was born on December 22, 1942, in Sheboygan, Wis., the daughter of the late Joseph and Stephie (Zorman) Brunette.

After graduating from Sheboygan South High School in 1961, Julie studied Education and Spanish at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, earning both her bachelor's and master's degrees. She later continued her education at UW-Madison, receiving her Juris Doctorate law degree in 1985, after which she practiced law in Middleton for 39 years.

Julie was a very engaged and well-respected member of the Middleton community, having been the first woman to, serve as a member of the Optimist Club of Middleton; become President of Middleton Chamber of Commerce; and serve as Chair of the Middleton Fire Commission; to name a few. She also served on the Middleton Finance and Personnel Committee.

She enjoyed friends, gardening, and music, and always loved laughter. Her hobbies included golfing, playing and watching sports, and travel. Her greatest love was for, and her most precious times were with, her children and family. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother who cherished every moment.

Julie is survived by her sons, Jason (Jen) Grosh and Ryan (Mandy) Grosh; her six grandchildren, Kaleigh, Sydney, Bryn, Lilia, Avery and Connor; loving extended family; and many dear friends.

Visitation will be held at Gunderson West Funeral and Cremation Care, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025. A Memorial Service will be held at Gunderson West Funeral and Cremation Care at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be donated in Julie's honor to the Middleton Optimist Club, Middleton Scouts BSA Troop 640, or Middleton Fire Company No. 1.

My great friend of 50 years and the smartest, funniest woman I know. She "rarely had opinion"

I respected Julie as a fellow local elected official and fellow lawyer. She always said "if the vote is unanimous, someone is not paying attention." She was a bright light.

My husband and I were blessed to have known Julie Ann. She was so full of spirit, laughter and so fun. She had a strong love for her children, her grand children were her extra special loves. She was so proud of each and every one of them. Her aunts,Uncles, cousins and friends meant so very much to her. She will be having a wonderful time in heaven with the ones that she has longed for. Dear family,
Julie is not dead. She lives in all that knew her. As with many who have passed, we are always saddened by their passing. Besides being a friend, she was my attorney who i thought she would never die. My deep sympathy to her family.

Without Julie we would not have saved our business, enjoyed her humor, golfed when we were supposed to be at work, been on City Council and in multitude of other committees. We could always count on her for friendship and legal advice. Our sympathies to her family, she will be missed but our memories of the good times won´t fade.
