Mark A. Mohlman
WAUNAKEE - Mark A. Mohlman was born August 11, 1961, at Madison General Hospital to Arnold and Aletha Mohlman.
He grew up in Monona and attended LaFollette High School, Madison Area Technical College, and the University of Wisconsin Madison.
He spent his childhood years with his two younger brothers doing things like making Batman and Robin capes out of towels, enjoying westerns such as Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and Daniel Boone, and wearing hand painted football helmets from their dad.
After college, Mark worked as a Civil Engineering Project Manager for the Wisconsin DOT and made many lasting friends. He was the ultimate field man, and always wanted to be "on the grade" or building a bridge.
In 1989 he married Annette, and shortly after, the two had their first battle with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL). At 28, Mark was one of the youngest CLL patients his doctors had heard of. Against all odds, he won his fight and was later blessed with the birth of two sons, Grant in 1994, and Reed in 2000.
For the next 32 years, the leukemia remained at bay and Mark enjoyed life with his family. He taught his sons to love the outdoors, involved them in school sports, shared favorite movies and shows, and taught them to say their prayers.
Mark was a great man with a great heart to match. He had a sweet smile, a warm disposition, and was a great conversationalist. When he said, "I love you," as he did every day to his family, you knew he deeply meant it.
The leukemia made a return recently, and ultimately took his life. He is survived by his wife Annette; sons: Grant and Reed; brothers: Craig and Scott; sisters and brothers-in-law; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Aletha; grandparents and other extended family members.
To my husband: "Thank you for being the one God made for me, for our sons, and for our 33 years of love to be continued into eternity."
