Michael Steele Obituary

Michael Charles Steele passed away unexpectedly in Minnetonka, MN on August 3, 2025. He was born in Madison, WI to Charles and Marjorie Steele and graduated in 1974 from Madison Lafollette H.S. He went to the University of Wisconsin- Madison and truly enjoyed his time at the university and in the marching band before moving to Portland. He worked numerous jobs in warehouse logistics in Portland, OR, Medford, OR and Reno, NV. He married Vivian Patterson in 1989 in Oregon on a peak with a view of Mount Hood. It was truly a picturesque landscape. They shared many wonderful years together before her passing in 2023. He was a wonderful husband, son, brother and uncle and will be greatly missed by all. Mike was the life of the party, a great storyteller and a friend to everyone. He was the entertainer when you were welcomed into his home. He was a wonderful father to all of his rescue dogs including Cubbie, Chopper and Rusty. He is survived by his parents: Charles and Marjorie Steele, Sun Prairie; his siblings, Michele(Robert) Luke, Plymouth, MN; James Steele, Lake Geneva, WI; Jody(Joel) Myrold, Madison, WI and Laurie(Todd) Hellenbrand, DeForest, WI as well as his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife,Vivian; brother in law, Harold; mother in law, Janet; grandparents Ivo and Anastasia Kronzer, grandparents Robert and Hortense Steele and step grandmother, Eva Steele. Memorials may be made to The National Fragile X Foundation in his memory.
