Robert Allen Rancourt
March 26, 1933 - April 4, 2024
WAUNAKEE - Robert Allen Rancourt, age 91, passed away on April 4, 2024.
He was born on March 26, 1933, in Lowell, MA, the son of Leo and Mildred (Hoag) Rancourt. He graduated from St. Mary's Boys' High School in Lynn, MA; and later attended U-Mass Teachers College. During college, he enlisted in the Air Force, serving during the Korean War for three years in the Air Inspector's Office. While he was stationed in Tokyo, he participated in several theatrical productions with the Tokyo Playhouse.
Robert married Della Alt in October 1968.
Robert worked at Ray-O-Vac for 12 years; and later as an Administrator with the UW – School of Medicine and Public Health's Center for Health Policy and Program Evaluation (CHPPE) and the Wisconsin Alzheimer's Institute. He retired from the University after more than 30 years in 2009.
For 25 years, Robert was active and acted in many productions with the Madison Theater Guild; and at one time, he was on their Board of Directors.
He is survived by his wife, Della, of 56 years; and son, David (Carrie) Rancourt of Middleton, WI; and two grandsons: John and William Rancourt; and one sister, June Rose Lombara of Peachtree City, GA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Mildred; sisters: Carol McDonough of Saugus, MA, and Barbara Meedzan of New Hampshire; and two wonderful in-laws, Edward and Elsie Alt of Plain, WI.
Funeral Services will be held on Wed. April 17, 2024, at 12:00 noon at St. John's Catholic Church 209 South St. Waunakee. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Catholic Church or the American Legion – Post 360 (Waunakee, WI).
