March 29, 1941 - September 28, 2025

Madison –

Sara Franco, age 84, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. She was born on March 29, 1941, in Corpus Christi, Texas, the daughter of George and Esther Hernandez. She was united in marriage to Salvador "Sal" Franco on May 27, 1961. Sara worked for over 40 years with the Wisconsin Department of Revenue.

Sara is survived by her children, Mary Esther (Jan) Nijhuis, and Gilbert (Jodi) Franco; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Jacob) Pryor, Nicholas (Sabina) Higgins, and Catilin Higgins; great-granddaughter, Mylah; and siblings, Joseph, Rachel, Elizabeth and David.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sal; her daughter, Annette; her parents; and several siblings.

A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the Ryan Funeral Home – Legacy Center, 6728 Mader Drive, with Pastor Tom Flaherty officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to the time of the service. Interment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
