Virginia Conlon Obituary

Virginia "Ginny" Lynn Jackson Conlon

April 2, 1942 - Dec. 6, 2023

ZELLWOOD, FL - Wife, mother, and grandmother, Virginia "Ginny" Lynn Jackson Conlon, recently of Zellwood, FL, and long-time resident of Dallas, TX, went to live with her Lord and Savior on December 6, 2023. She passed peacefully in her sleep of unknown causes. Almost a year before her passing, her husband, Bruce Patrick Conlon, died of a heart attack while in the same hospital where Virginia was recovering from sepsis. In 2023, she and her mother moved to Florida so she could continue to be her mother's caretaker and to be closer to her sons and grandchildren.

Ginny was born on April 2, 1942, to Chrystie Bertramson Jackson and Marion Jackson, in Madison, WI, where she grew up. She attended the University of Wisconsin where she became a Tri-Delt and made lasting friendships. While there, Ginny met Bruce on a blind date set up by mutual friends and they began a courtship. In the summer of 1962, she went to work on a dude ranch in Texas, where Bruce promptly arrived to stake his claim on her heart. They married on August 31, 1963, at the First Congregational Church in Madison, officiated by Gale Wolf.

Ginny and Bruce enjoyed the early years of their marriage while finishing their degrees and establishing a home for themselves. Bruce's work took them to Atlanta, GA, where their son Daniel was born. Almost four years later, their son Thomas was born while they lived in Cleveland, OH. Eventually, in 1982, they moved to Dallas, TX, where they built their dream home in which they lived for the next 40 years.

Ginny loved caring for her family and provided her sons with many opportunities to experience new activities from swimming, tennis, golf, soccer, and baseball to piano and violin lessons. She even had a stint as a Den Mother while the boys were in Cub Scouts.

During nearly 60 years of marriage, she and Bruce enjoyed road trips and camping with their sons and later, as a couple taking many trips at home and abroad. They enjoyed hosting parties for friends and attending concerts of their favorite artists. Ginny also loved playing tennis, swimming and taking long bike rides. She kept herself spiritually centered and involved in social causes in her church and community for the betterment of the world.

Ginny was so dedicated to the well-being of others that she pursued her dream of getting a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy while raising her sons. She received her degree from Texas Women's University and followed this accomplishment with licenses in many areas of her field. Following graduation until her death, she worked with patients young and old and from the world over to facilitate bettering their lives and to help trauma victims.

Our sweet Ginny was a kind and loving soul throughout her life and will be truly missed. The most beautiful woman at heart, she loved her family more than anything in the world and times spent together were always a treasure. She leaves behind her son, Dan (Cliff) Conlon of Apopka, FL; son, Thomas Conlon of Gainesville, FL; grandson, Jaxson Conlon, and granddaughter, Ella Conlon both of Gainesville, FL; mother, Chrystie Jackson of Apopka, FL; sister, Marje Jackson of Omaha, NE; brother, Stan (Beth) Jackson of Woodbridge, VA; sister in-law, Lorrie Jackson of Cheboygan, MI; and several dear nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Patrick Conlon; father, Marion Jackson; and brother, Douglas Jackson.
