David Lloyd Jones

Born April 18, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

With his sons at his side Dave headed to the perfect fishing hole on August 27, 2024

Dave joined his loving parents Alene and DeVaughn Jones, sister, Catherine Jones-Pritchett; and brother, Fredric P. Jones (Barbara). Dave grew up in Farmington, Utah graduating from Davis High School and attended Weber State College.

He spent many summers in Monicello, Utah with his beloved grandparents, Pete and LeNora Jones. There he developed his life-long love of fishing, hunting, being in the wilderness and on the water with some of his favorites being the San Juan River, Lake Powell and Salmon Dam (or damn depending on the fishing).

Dave married his high school sweetheart, Kathy Swan (Stivers) and together had two wonderful sons, Matt Jones (Martha) and Pete Jones. Dave was blessed with four grandchildren, Haley Eldredge, Lacey Anderson (Brad), Bryer Jones and Haven Jones; and a six pack of great-grandsons. Dave and Kathy later divorced but remained good friends.

Dave worked for the Swan family at House Creek Ranch in the Three Creek area for 15 years. Always a hard worker, Dave was a true cowboy and buckaroo working cattle, breaking colts, roping and branding. He also helped develop the "fish ponds" later to become the beginning of the CSI aquaculture program. After moving to Twin Falls, Dave started the first tile and marble business in the area. He continued to be involved in the industry until shortly before his death.

Dave's joys later in life were watching his grandchildren, Bryer and Haven, in their rodeo and sporting events, watching son, Pete, team rope and coach Filer High School girls' basketball and fishing with his son, Matt. A celebration of Dave's life will be held next spring.
