David "Dave" John Werbeck
July 28, 1947 - Jan. 23, 2024
TWIN FALLS - David "Dave" John Werbeck passed away on January 23, 2024, following a brief illness, with his family by his side. He was 76. He was born on July 28, 1947, in Washington, DC, to Donald and Margaret Werbeck.
His father was an officer in the Air Force and the family lived in several states, including Alaska and Hawaii. It was in Hawaii during his high school years that Dave cemented his love for water sports while studying at Punahou School as a member of the school swim team and through surfing adventures with friends. He continued his passion for surfing while studying both as an undergraduate and graduate at UCLA, traveling up and down the coast of California and Western Mexico chasing waves.
A chance encounter in the surf on a remote beach in Nayarit, Mexico, led to a beautiful 52-year marriage with Cheri Annette Bilodeau. Their adventure came full circle in retirement when they built their dream beachfront home only miles from where they first met.
In the years in between, the couple settled first in Los Angeles while Dave headed up Chevrolet's Car Placement Program in Hollywood motion pictures.
They moved to Twin Falls in 1974 following his promotion to District Manager. Dave and Cheri quickly fell in love with Southern Idaho. Their children were born in the following years and Dave moved on to different entrepreneurial ventures as co-owner of Canyon Motors Subaru and later Obenchain Insurance.
Dave enjoyed all that life had to offer, and his hobbies ranged from hunting, golfing, fly fishing, and Harley riding to whitewater rafting and scuba diving. Those interests were always enriched through travel, food, and deep friendships with so many. Dave and Cheri mixed adventure travel fly fishing for bonefish in Seychelles, Christmas Island, and Venezuela with international cruises and motorcoach trips throughout the American West.
It's hard to imagine any unchecked box on Dave's bucket list. Friends and family will remember Dave's quick wit, sense of humor, and hilarious quips. His rafting friends will remember him cheering "whitewater!" upon entering a rapid (or really any "bump" in life) or rejoicing in "wonderful Werbeck weather" (as if he were the reason the sun was shining). His children and grandchildren will forever cherish his support, encouragement, and involvement in all their endeavors and his extra "push" (to put it mildly) to try new things.
He was always willing to help someone in need and he was active in the community in so many ways. He served several years on the CSI Foundation and supported numerous scholarships, particularly for Hispanic youth in the Magic Valley and Nayarit, Mexico.
Dave is survived by his wife, Cheri; daughter, Mandy; son, Jake (Andrea); three grandchildren, Dylan, Lauren, and Bryce; and brother, Don (Pam). He was preceded in death by his father, Major General Donald L. Werbeck; and mother, Margaret M. Werbeck.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., at Stone House & Company in Twin Falls.

My condolences to Cheri and the Werbeck family.
Dave never met a stranger and was the type person you liked as soon as you met him. If anyone wanted to know how to enjoy life they just needed to hang around Dave for a short while. I always felt happy while being around him. He will be missed.
Mike Brock.
