BURLEY – Deanna Joyce (Miller) Poppleton, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, sister, and aunt returned to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 6, 2023.
Deanna "Dee" was born May 30, 1937, to Ralph Curtis Miller and Thelma Elizabeth Lord in Olathe, Kansas. She was the second of 12 children and the oldest daughter. Most of her childhood was spent in the Olathe area.
Dee married Gene Eldis Cannell in 1955, and they raised three children: Tarima Davidson of Anacortes, Washington, Greg Cannell (Jan Taylor Banner) of American Falls, Idaho, and Darren Cannell (Tracy) of Huntsville, Alabama. Dan had three children from a previous marriage: David Poppleton of Vineyard, Utah, Kerrine Abrego of Paul, Idaho, and Daniel Poppleton of Bozeman, Montana.
Dee was a self-taught oil-paint artist, award-winning poet, home decorator, and yard specialist. She especially loved gardening, where she created some of the most beautiful tree, flower, and shrub landscapes. When asked what her favorite flower is, the response - "All of them! They all smell so good!" Her favorite holiday was Christmas; twinkling lights, Santas, angels, snowmen, and a beautifully decorated eight-foot tree were all on display.
