Dennis Ray Hodges, 73, formerly of Twin Falls went home to be with His Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on October 29, 2021. He died of a cardiac arrest in Boise, Idaho at the VA Hospital ICU after a heroic effort to restart his heart.
Denny, as he was called, grew up in Tulelake, California. Denny lived next to a bird sanctuary on some acreage. It was here in rural northern California that Denny developed his love of country life, birds, gardens, carpentry, and farm equipment.
In 1969, Denny was called overseas to serve in the Vietnam War. He was 18. When Denny returned to the USA in 1969, he continued to work odd construction jobs with his father and drove a dump truck on various Oregon coast jobs.
In the late '70s, Denny moved with his family from California to Jerome Idaho. In mid-1983, Denny met and later married the love of his life, Tracy Ann Sorensen in Jerome Idaho. After a brief stay in Jerome, the couple moved to Carey Idaho to help Tracy's father, Joe Sorensen, manage 1444 acres of property on Silver Creek. In 1986, the couple purchased a home in Twin Falls. Denny worked for Wills Inc for over 15 years as a backhoe operator and stonemason. Denny attended Lighthouse Christian Fellowship, Jerome Calvary Chapel & Buhl Calvary Chapel.
Denny loved the outdoors & spent many adventures exploring Idaho, Oregon, and Montana in his 1971 VW Westy camper. Denny could make for his wife any piece of furniture from a magazine picture, he grew "heirloom" vegetables in greenhouses that he built. He was a quiet man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
