Jeff Tews Obituary

Jeff Slyvester Tews

January 12, 1980 - September 15, 2024

Jeff Slyvester Tews was born on January 12, 1980, to Fred Tews Sr. and Jessie Tews of Twin Falls, Idaho. Jeff grew up on Wakefield St. in Twin Falls with his siblings and all the neighborhood kids. He attended Morningside Elementary, O'Leary Jr. High, and Twin Falls High School, graduating from Twin Falls High in 1999. After high school, he met the love of his life, Tara Engbaum. They were blessed with three wonderful children: a girl and two boys, Krysta, who was born in 2000; Tegun, in 2003; and Hunter, in 2006. Jeff and Tara sealed their partnership by marrying in September 2004. After 18 years, Jeff and Tara parted ways.

Jeff tried his hand at BLM firefighting for a while, which he loved, but being away from family was tough. He worked in tile with his older brother Walter before opening his own tile business, Tile Heights. Jeff moved to Boise in recent years, bringing his tile business with him.

Jeff was always the funny jokester of the family, making everyone laugh. He was the favorite uncle to many of his nieces and nephews. He loved sports and played baseball from the time he could throw a ball. He enjoyed watching football with his son Tegun, a 49ers fan, while Tegun was a Green Bay fan. You can only imagine what it was like when their two teams were playing against each other. Jeff looked forward to going hunting with his dad every year and enjoyed the occasional fishing trips. He loved his dog, Sawyer, who never left Jeff's side (BFFs). Jeff's favorite number was #4. He loved Adam Sandler from an early age and enjoyed listening to ZZ Top, AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and The Rolling Stones. Jeff loved his family with his whole being; his children and grandchildren were the love of his life. He had friendships that carried over into adulthood that meant a lot to him, especially with Cory Annis and Adam Benkula, whom he viewed as brothers.

Jeff is preceded in death by his grandfather Walter H. Tews, grandmother Lucinda A. Tews, grandfather Jess S. Rolland, grandparents Bob and Betty Hase, and aunts Wanda Fitzsimmons and Bonnie J. Tews.

Jeff is survived by his parents, Fred and Jessie (Twin Falls, ID), brother Walter/Rachel Tews (Kuna, ID), sister Jessica/John Beverly (Twin Falls, ID), his three childrenKrysta Tews (Helena, MT), Tegun Tews (Winfield, KS), Hunter Tews (Idaho Falls, ID)and the mother of his children, Tara Engbaum (Grangeville, ID), along with many nieces and nephews. Jeff will be remembered and missed by all who knew him.
