Larry McCauley
May 14, 1946 - Dec. 7, 2023
TWIN FALLS - Larry McCauley, 77, Twin Falls, Idaho passed away on December 7, 2023, peacefully at his home after a short illness. He was born on May 14, 1946, in Filer. Idaho, the youngest child to Elwood and Eleanor McCauley.
Larry was raised on a farm and learned how to work hard at an early age. Often at odds with his father, he was taught the art of farming by his uncle Horace. Larry's uncle Horace was his hero and mentor for the remainder of his life.
Larry graduated high school in 1964 from Filer. He met Connie Knauss and they were married on October 23, 1965 at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Twin Falls. Together they had one son, Shawn.
Larry spent many years working at Falls Brand Meats, where he made several lifelong friends. After this he started working on Hydro Electric Plants in the area and became self-employed. In 1986, Larry had a heart transplant at the University of Utah Medical Center, which saved his life. He was the first person from the Magic Valley to have a heart transplant and his transplant gave him an additional 37 years of life.
Larry was known to be tough, determined, stubborn, and opinionated. It is all those things that we know gave him an extraordinarily long time with his friends and family. He far outlived all expectations.
Although Larry didn't farm for a living, he still loved the farm life and often volunteered to help his nephew, Wade Debban. He loved to bale hay or do other tasks, just to stay close to the farm.
Larry also loved dogs and he spent his last days at home with Connie and his dogs close to his side.
Larry is survived by his wife, Connie, son, Shawn, nephews: Wade Debban (Leslie), Brett Griffith (Margot), and Tammy Horner (Rob).
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life sometime this spring when the weather is more agreeable.

I am very sad and sorry for your grief. I will always remember Larry´s attitude about Life, that it is to be lived with determination and positive attitude with all your heart and mind. And he was all that and more.
