Larry Dean Tucker
May 4, 1947 - June 23, 2025
Larry Dean Tucker passed peacefully on Monday June 23, 2025, at his home after battling a long illness. Larry was "walked home" with his wife Annie and his son Brandon holding his hands while his grandson Christian and niece Tracey offered their support.
Larry was born on May 4, 1947, in Seymour, Missouri, to Jack Tucker and Anna Cornelison Tucker. While still a toddler, Larry and his parents along with others of his father's family moved to Idaho where Larry resided for the remainder of his life other than three years during his service in the U.S. Army. Larry graduated from Twin Falls High School in May of 1965. After graduation, Larry worked for Banner Furniture until enlisting in the Army in April of 1968. Larry successfully graduated from the Army Aviation School, but one morning during lineup and orders for the day, the question was asked if anyone was a good typist. Larry stepped forward, and for the remainder of his service was his company's clerk. Larry was awarded Soldier of the Month twice during his military career for his organization and attention to detail. Larry sent home many photos taken from a helicopter during his tour of duty in Vietnam and told his family a buddy had taken them for him. Later in life, he admitted that he had volunteered to fly out to aid in picking up troops from combat zones, and that he had taken the photos during those missions.
After being honorably discharged from the Army in April of 1971, Larry went back to work at Banner Furniture for a time. He then spent the next 40+ years driving long haul and short haul trucking jobs for various area businesses before retiring in 2009, after his diagnosis with throat cancer. Some of his fondest memories of his years driving truck were of his cousin Dean Tucker teaching him how to drive a big rig, tandem driving with his best buddy Stormy Blake, and taking his sons Trevor and Travis on some of his long haul runs when they were young boys. Larry was proud of an award he earned for driving over one million miles accident free.
Larry married his soulmate and love of his life Anne Spears on August 9, 2008, in Twin Falls, Idaho, in their beautiful back yard. They loved just spending time with one another. Anne took excellent care of Larry, and her strength carried him through times when his illness left him with little strength of his own. His family is eternally grateful for her dedication and loving care.
Larry inherited a green thumb from his parents and loved planting his garden and watching it grow. He took pride in his yard with its many beautiful flowers. Larry enjoyed fishing and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was a fan of the BSU Broncos and the Denver Broncos. One of his prized possessions was the John Elway helmet his son Trevor gifted him. Larry was quite the pool player and was considered by many to be a pool shark. But he had a way about him that he could clean someone off the pool table, and they would still buy him a beer afterwards. Larry loved the dogs he had during his lifetime and several accompanied him on the truck. Larry had an ornery streak along with a good sense of humor and enjoyed teasing his kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He perfected his teasing ability by teasing his sister Connie mercilessly when they were kids. Most of all, Larry cherished the time spent with his family.
Larry is survived by his wife Anne of Twin Falls, sons Brandon Witt (Tommie) of Kuna, Trevor Tucker of Boise, Travis Tucker (Callie) of Filer, daughter Stephanie Tucker of Twin Falls, sister Connie Klaas (Kelly) of Twin Falls, grandson Christian (Carrie-Anne), granddaughters Rilee, Avery, and Tinley, great grandchildren Adelia and Glenn, niece Tracey Evans (Eric), nephew Shane Klaas (Ronda), several grand nieces and nephews, many other family members near and far, and his beloved dogs Ruby and Alfie.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Anna Tucker, his double-cousin Dean Tucker, several aunts and uncles, and several of his precious dogs.

Larry donated to several organizations each month for veterans, wounded soldiers, and the Idaho Food bank. In lieu of flowers, Larry requested that donations be made in his name to any veterans organization.
The family gives our utmost thanks to Dr. Russell Mayes, ENT, Dr. Gregory Ball, Pulmonologist, St. Luke's ICU nurses Rose, Allison, Paige, and Juanita, and to Brooke and Maddie at St. Luke's Hospice, the Veterans Administration including the Seattle Veterans Hospital for their knowledgeable care during Larry's radiation treatments for his throat cancer. All of you gave us 15 more years with Larry and for that we are forever grateful.
Standing six feet five inches, Larry was hard to miss in a crowd. But it was his big heart that will be missed most by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
