Laurin Nobles Obituary

Laurin William Nobles

June 4, 1940 - Sept. 28, 2023

Laurin William Nobles, known to most as Bill, was born June 4, 1940 to Laurin H. Nobles and Martha E. Nobles. He was received into heaven on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at the age of 83.

Bill was raised in Santa Rosa with his brother, Marvin and sister, Carol where the family ran cattle and sheep and spent many hunting seasons at the family ranch in Cazadero, California. Bill attended school in Santa Rosa. He graduated high school from Santa Rosa High in 1959.

He went on to Auctioneer school and became a master at the craft. He and his dad opened an antiques shop and Bill was the Auctioneer.

Bill married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Parmley, October 14, 1961 and in August 1962 they added Karen Penelope "Penny" to their family and in December 1963 Little Bill, William Francis arrived. In 1968 the family moved to Idaho.

Bill was a livestock trader and long-haul truck driver hauling livestock and produce. He spent many Wednesdays and Saturdays at the livestock sale yard and filled in as auctioneer when needed.

In May 1971 daughter Lauren Jay arrived. Bill and Joyce divorced in 1972. The family remained in Idaho and he continued to drive long-haul from California to New York and to both borders Mexico to Canada. All three of his kids have memories of getting to go with dad in the big truck and spending summers in California with dad at grandma and grandpas.

In the mid 1980's Bill hung up the long-haul keys and started tinkering with the idea of silversmithing. He made belt buckles, earrings and key chains, he took to the road in 1987 with the start of his new business and name, Belt Buckle Bill.

He sold his goods at fairs and rodeos. He soon found that he could make a better profit selling leather goods and jewelry and so he stopped making the items he sold and bought from a wholesaler. He had many return customers and he even gave out his number and would receive phone orders that he would mail. In 2014 at the age to 74 he decided he had had enough and sold every bit of his merchandise, tables, equipment and his trailer and retired to Caldwell, ID.

He has spent these last year's being very active at the Caldwell Senior Center playing pinochle every Tuesday and making great friendships there and at his apartment complex. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, football, rodeos and a good John Wayne western.

On September 24, 2023 Bill excepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

Bill is survived by his brother, Marvin (Anita) Nobles of Cazadero, California, sister, Carol (Carl) Davis of Santa Rosa, California, son, Bill Nobles of Middleton, Idaho, daughter, Lauren (Allen) Peters of Twin Falls, Idaho, son-in-law, Dean Stewart of Caldwell, Idaho, six grandchildren: Amber, Gerrit, Cecil, Reese, Renee, Allyssa and seven great-grandchildren: Jazmine, Ayden, Skylynn, Ryland, Addyson, Ezekiel and Soren, four nieces and several cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Laurin H. Nobles, Martha E. Nobles, daughter, Karen Penelope "Penny" Stewart and granddaughter, Amanda Simpson.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Journeys Hospice Care for their love and care of Bill during his last days. Thank you Mellissa, Lisa, Lilly and Josh, you are exceptional.
