Lyn Arnell Obituary
Lyn Ann Williamson Arnell
Lyn Ann Williamson Arnell, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father on August 28th, at home in Burley, Idaho, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous and well-fought battle with Parkinson's disease.
Born in October 1943 in Montpelier, Idaho, to Rexford and Maxine Williamson, Lyn Ann grew up in the beautiful Bear Lake Valley, where she shared a joyful childhood with her five siblings. Her love of family, her deep sense of community, and her unwavering faith began in those early years and became the hallmarks of her life.
Lyn Ann worked for many years in the banking and finance industry, where her intelligence, warmth, and ability to connect with people made her a trusted friend and colleague. Though she and her eternal companion, Guy Arnell, had known each other since childhood, it wasn't until later in life that their paths intertwined again. They were married in 1978, and later sealed in the Logan Utah Temple, together with their daughters.
Affectionately known as "Lanny" to her grandchildren, family, and countless friends, she lived a life centered on love and service. She was happiest when lifting others, whether through a kind word, a warm meal, or quiet acts of compassionate service. Blessing others' lives was what motivated and gave Lyn Ann the most fulfillment. Lyn Ann faithfully served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, many times in the Relief Society and Young Women organizations. She loved serving in the temple and truly loved her final calling in Stake Public Affairs. She especially cherished this role because it allowed her to gather people of all faiths, build bridges of friendship, and strengthen her community. Her love of the temple was profound, and she shared that testimony with her family often, instilling in them a sense of peace and eternal perspective.
Her service extended far beyond the walls of her church. Lyn Ann devoted herself to community projects, including local concert series, the Burley Centennial Celebration and the beautification of Burley. One of her proudest contributions was helping to introduce the 175 flowerpots that now grace the city's main streets, bringing beauty and joy to everyone who passes by.
Family was always at the heart of everything she did. She created memories around campfires, hunting trips, and family gatherings-always managing to prepare gourmet meals, no matter how rustic the setting. Some of her most cherished moments were spent at her family's cabin in Bear Lake, surrounded by laughter, stories, and the people she loved most.
Lyn Ann was truly a friend to all. She had a gift for making everyone feel loved, welcomed, and seen. Her influence will live on in her children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate hospice nurses & physical therapists at Intermountain Home Health & Hospice, and especially to her granddaughter, McKenzie Brimhall, whose love, dedication, and tender care over the last six months brought comfort and peace to both Lanny and her family.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 46 years, Guy Arnell of Burley; her daughters, Melissa Arnell of Salt Lake City, Megen (Christopher) Ralphs of Cedar City, and Morgen (Robbie) Bybee of Inkom; ten grandchildren, McKenzie, Zebediah (Madison), Maximillan (Ashtyn), Zoie, Tate, Carson, Elle, Porter, Drew, and Ty; and one great-grandchild, Bear. She is also survived by her siblings, Glen (Anell) Williamson, Lorna Kimball, Craig Williamson, Bruce Williamson, and Rick (Dee) Williamson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rexford and Maxine Williamson, and her grandson, Keaton Arnell Brimhall (Melissa).
Though Lyn Ann has departed this mortal life, her legacy of love, service, faith, and joy will forever remain with those who were privileged to call her wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
