Mark Martin Obituary
Mark Anthony Martin
September 26, 1954 - May 28, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mark Anthony Martin, who left us on May 28, 2025, at Banner University Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz., due to heart complications. Mark spent his final moments surrounded by the love of his wife and children, a reflection of the deep connections and bonds he fostered throughout his 70 years.
Born on September 26, 1954, in Twin Falls, Idaho, Mark was a man of integrity, adventure, and resilience. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Edmund Patterson, but is survived by his loving mother, Connie Pannell Patterson; his devoted wife of 39 years, Denise Earl Martin; and his beloved children, Tricia May Harvala (Ted), and Russell Arron Martin (Regine). His grandchildren, Ashley, Haley, Riley, and Celine; and his three great-grandchildren, Ava, Kash, and Rogue will continue to carry forward his legacy of laughter and unwavering support. He was loved by his siblings, Mona (Boyd) Field, Lynda Lee, Richard Martin, Teresa Martin-Crist, and Dave Bjornson and by his large extended family.
A true Jack of all trades and master of many, Mark worked 25 years at Monroc Concrete while simultaneously building and then running E-Z Money Pawn and Auto for 35 years. He had a sharp ear for the auctioneer's call and loved a good auction, always looking out for his fellow used car dealers. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication earned him the honor of Dealer of the Year from the Independent Auto Dealer Association, a well-deserved nod to his lifelong commitment to his craft. He proudly served his country as a Navy maintenance tech aboard the USS Dixie, carrying those values of service and commitment throughout his life. In Apache Junction, Ariz., he became an integral part of the community after retirement.
Beyond his career, Mark lived life to its fullest. For many years he opened his home for multiple foreign exchange students. He found joy in hunting and fishing with his son, boating with his family, racing cars, tending to his garden, fast draw gun slinging, dancing, and singing karaoke, especially to Elvis tunes. His vibrant energy and passion for life were infectious, touching all who had the privilege of knowing him. Mark was all about his community, always jumping in to help where he could and sponsoring events/charities. Whether it was Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, the NRA, Rupert Elks, or just about any charity or fundraiser throughout Mini-Cassia via his E-Z Money Pawn and Auto business. He was all in for events like the Burnout Contest, Helping Hands, Meals on Wheels, and the Regatta. If there was a good cause, Mark was there.
There will be a Celebration of Life on June 28, 2025, at 4 p.m. at Rupert Elks with an open house to follow from 5 to 8. The following day there will be an urn placement at the Oakley Basin Cemetery at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Foundation, a cause close to their hearts.
Mark was a man who faced life head-on, never shying away from challenges, always embracing adventure, and most importantly, deeply loving his family and friends. His passing leaves a profound emptiness, but his memory will forever be woven into the hearts of those he touched.
In honor of Mark, live your life to the fullest and love hard, just as he did.
Rest in peace, Mark. Your journey was one worth celebrating.
