Ordel Simper Obituary

Ordel Ernest Simper returned to his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 8, 2026. He was born on April 15, 1941, in Brigham, Utah.

Ordel was a cowboy at heart. A dedicated team roper, who also owned and operated an indoor arena in Rupert, Idaho, where he hosted countless team ropings (and barrel races), bringing together friends and competitors. He acquired the family-owned Simper Ranch in Lynn, Utah, from his parents and sisters. He was a cattle rancher, and horse breeder when he had his special stud Buddy.

For many years, he and his wife Reita did guided deer and elk hunts at the Simper Ranch, forming lasting friendships and gathering stories he would gladly share for hours.

Ordel deeply loved and cherished his beloved wife, Reita. She was a devoted and hardworking lady that kept everything running smoothly. Their marriage of more than 62 years was a testament to their dedication and lasting love. Ordel cared for her until she returned home to her Lord and Savior in 2023.

He loved his family and considered his friends to be family as well. His sisters loved him dearly, though during their younger years they shared a spirited love-hate relationship and often affectionately referred to him as the "wild child." He had a very kind soul and was a man of his word.

He appreciated the care, love, and friendship of Janice Wiseman, who faithfully served as his caregiver in the final years of his life.

Ordel is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Simper, and grandson Justin LaRue; his son and daughter-in-law, CL and Rhoda Simper, and their children Lexi and Carson; his son-in-law, Bill Palacio, and granddaughter McKayla Palacio Williams; his sister, Dorothy Bradfield; nieces Lenna Bradfield, Tauna Bradfield, and Suzette Brice; and nephew Burke Butler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clement and Delia Simper; his wife, Reita Simper; his daughter, Teena Palacio; his sister and brother-in-law, Beth and Kay Franks; his nephew, Kevin Butler; and his brother-in-law, Phil Bradfield.

Ordel's legacy is one of reliability, kindness, quick humor, and a fun-loving spirit. He was everyone's friend. He leaves behind countless special memories and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing.
