Paul D. Mills
August 28, 1937 - March 11, 2021
Paul D. Mills was born to Kenneth Mills and Ethel Sappenfield in Long Beach California on August 28, 1937.
He was preceded in death by his sister Nancy J. Mills, first wife Myrna Mills, of Paramount, California, second wife Beverly Mills of Twin Falls, Idaho, and daughter Nancy Mills.
He is survived by his brother Sandy Mills (Janice), sons Richard Mills (Cynthia) and Donald Mills (Sherry), grandchildren Joshua Mills and Stephanie Bell (Steve), great grandchildren Xander and Arianna, granddaughter Rachel Ryan (Patrick), great-grandchild Gavin, nephew Brian Mills and his children Nick and Marie Mills, niece Jenny Mills, and Beverly's nieces Lisa Detweiler (Mike Barker)-children George and Anna-and Erin O'Neill (William)-children Cora and Eben.
Paul worked for his dad, Kenneth, and Uncle Wayne Mills on the oil wells and oilrigs that they owned. He graduated from Wilson High School in Long Beach in 1956. While in school, he proudly earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
He attended the Colorado school of mines for a couple of years, then joined the Navy in 1958 where he was assigned to duty on the oil tanker Ashtabula. He worked in the engineering department on the boilers and steam and diesel engines. He was honorably discharged as a Petty Officer First Class.
From there Paul started working as an engineer at US Borax, then Desoto Chemicals. While working at those companies he furthered his education at the Long Beach City College and the University of Southern California Long Beach, getting his Masters degree in Engineering. Over the years Paul belonged to several engineering fraternities. He retired as a plant engineer, which he greatly enjoyed and was very proud of this achievement. Working on and understanding machinery, along with leading and teaching people, was what made him the happiest.
Paul loved music. In school and over the years he played many instruments, both in bands and at home. Later in life, loving family and seeking the Lord Jesus through His Word became very important to him. He was a member of Eastside Baptist church in Twin Falls and had many friends there.
The first thing anyone who knew Paul would say is, "Paul is a very nice man." He was a most faithful man, without a mean bone in his body. He will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.
A service to honor Paul will be held graveside on Saturday, May 22 at 10 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park in Twin Falls.
