Richard Tucker Obituary

Richard Earnest Tucker

May 14, 1929 - October 28, 2024

TWIN FALLS - Richard Earnest Tucker, 95, passed away at St Luke's Hospital Monday, October 28, 2024, following a brief illness. Dick was born at home in Twin Falls, ID on May 14, 1929, joining his sister, Mila and parents, Ernest and Erma Tucker. He spent his early years hunting, fishing, and helping on the family farm south of Curry. Dick attended the Union School at Curry and graduated from Twin Falls High School.

Following graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Navy and spent the next four years as an Electrician's Mate stationed in Bremerton, WA, and aboard ship in Korea and the South Pacific. While stationed in Washington, Dick was set up on a blind date with a cute gal from Seattle.

Nancy became the love of his life and they were married on November 27, 1954. They spent the next 50 years farming and dairying and raising their family in Filer.

Dick was always giving his time and talents for others participating in many service groups and charities. He was a 50-year member and past Master of the Filer Masonic Lodge, a 50-year member and past Worthy Patron of the Filer Chapter Order of Eastern Star, and served as a Rainbow Dad twice. He was a 50-year member and past Commander of the Filer American Legion Post 47, and he gave many hours serving as a Deacon of the Filer First Baptist Church and serving on many of their committees and functions.

Dick always supported his family and his kid's activities and took a lot of pride and joy in his two grandsons. But his favorite times were spent traveling with Nancy. Together they toured Europe, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, and the Caribbean. They spent many hours hunting, fishing, or taking the motor home south for the winter to visit friends in Arizona.

After retiring from farming and traveling, Dick loved spending time at the Twin Falls Historical Museum. He especially enjoyed visiting with the school kids and telling them all about attending the Curry school back in the "good old days".

Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Tucker, his parents, Ernest and Erma Tucker, his sister, Mila Anderson Briggs and his daughter-in-law, Denni Tucker.

Dick is survived by son, Michael Tucker, Filer; daughter, Diana (Pat) Delaney, Twin Falls; two grandsons: Jay Tucker, Filer, and Matt (Brook) Delaney, Filer; and his great-granddaughter, Claire Delaney, Filer.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 11, 2024 at the Filer Baptist Church.

Arrangements are being handled by White-Reynolds Funeral Chapel in Twin Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Twin Falls County Historical Museum.

So sorry for your loss. Lots of memories of your dad and Mom in the early years. Thank you Mike for bringing your Dad to the senior center when I worked there, always good to see him, even though time had its toll on him. Cherish your time and the memories will help heal. Prayers for you all!
