Trenten Montero Obituary

Trenten Glynn Montero May 14, 1992 - August 30, 2023

After nearly three weeks in the hospital due to a rodeo accident, Trenten Glynn Montero, age 31, passed away on August 30, 2023. Montero was surrounded by loved ones in the Saint Alphonsus hospital in Boise, ID as he rode off into the Gates of Heaven.

Trenten was born May 14, 1992 in Boise, ID to his parents Glynn Montero, a professional rodeo athlete, and his mother Susan Montero, a Delta Airline flight attendant. It only makes sense this young man was born with a passion for adventure and rodeo. He began competing in the great sport of rodeo before he could walk on the backs of sheep and ended riding bucking horses at some of the largest rodeos in the world. Trenten graduated from New Mexico State University (NMSU) in 2014, with a degree in Agricultural Business and Economics, along with a minor in Business Administration. He competed for the NMSU rodeo team all four years on scholarship. Early 2019, he married the love of life Maria Montero in Las Cruces, NM. Later in 2019, Trenten qualified for the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, NV; he won the second round on the famous bucking horse Prairie Rose. July 26, 2023 Trenten and Maria welcomed their first child Noah Laurence Montero into the world.

Trenten is survived by his wife Maria; son Noah; his parents of Winnemucca, NV; siblings Savannah and Caden Montero; his mother-in-law Emily Carney; brother-in-law Chris Carney and grandmothers Suzanne Montero and Joanna Sauer; along with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) cowboys, uncles, aunts and many cousins.

Funeral Services will be on Saturday, September 9, at 2:00 PM at the St Jerome Catholic Church, 216 2nd Ave E, Jerome, ID 83338; a reception will be held at 152 West 500 North. On Friday, October 6, a celebration of life will be held at Leonard Creek Ranch at 3 PM.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to The Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund.

I'm a midwest girl transplanted to Western NY. I've only been to a few rodeos - they are awesome. The athletisism is amazing. I happened to read about Trenten online. I have 3 kids of my own, very close in age to this cowboy. My deepest sympathy to you all.

To the Montero family,I am truly sorry for your loss. I wish there was somerhing more I could or do. Saying im sory just doesnt seem to be enough.
I didnt know Trenten, I only saw him ride on tv a couple of times, but I somehow felt distantly connected, Albert Montero was my cousin. This is such a tragedy, but if there is any upside, its knowing Trenten was taken away doing what he loved to do.
God has a special place for cowboys.
Rest in peace.

So sorry for you loss, seems the Montero and Bidart families have way too many of their children in heaven.

To the whole Montero family, I know saying "I'm sorry" doesn't heal the pain nor make it easier. But I can say this, it was an honor to watch your husband, dad, your son, and brother sit proudly on back of every horse he drew, and nod his head for those 8 seconds each and every time.

We've seen Trenten's last ride here on earth, now Trenten will continue to ride, just in a different capacity, as God decided that he needed a bareback rider with wings.

To all the bareback riders at your next rodeo, you might feel a little extra on one of your shoulders. Don't fret, it's Trenten, taking that 8 second ride with you, protecting you.
