Charles N. Demetrios

CANFIELD - Charles N. Demetrios, 79, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, September 3, 2024. Born on December 7, 1944, in Youngstown, Charles was the son of the late George Demetrios and Mary Pavlechko Demetrios and was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a graduate of Chaney High School and enlisted in the Army Reserves after completing his education. Following his service, Charles embarked on a diverse working career, first at Schwebel's Baking Company and Youngstown Steel Door where he was a certified welder, before committing 30 years to General Motors in Lordstown, where he eventually retired. Charlie was a man of deep faith and a lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church. He was also a talented mechanic and enjoyed trap shooting and riding his motorcycle. One of his favorite traditions was his annual trip to Daytona Beach, Florida, for Bike Week. Above all, Charles was devoted to his family and will always be remembered as a good husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Waltraud "Wallie" Wagner Demetrios, whom he married September 26, 1965; his daughter, Christine (John) Burlock of Boardman; his son, Mark (Wendy) Demetrios of Canfield; his four beloved grandchildren, Nicole (Tim) Spencer, Alexa Demetrios, Katie Demetrios, and Michael Demetrios; two great-grandchildren, Lucas and Serena Spencer, and his brother, George (Diane) Demetrios of Boardman. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1025 N. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown, where a funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. Interment will take place at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Memory Eternal!
