Daniel Richards Obituary

Daniel Allen Richards, affectionately known as Dan to his friends and family passed away peacefully of natural causes on August 10, 2025, at his home in Newton Falls, Ohio. Born on October 9, 1956, in Warren, Ohio, Dan's journey through life was marked by his unwavering spirit, his infectious laughter, and his deep love for his family and friends. Dan's early years were spent in the close-knit community of Newton Falls, where he would eventually graduate from Newton Falls High School class of 1975. Dan carried the spirit of his alma mater throughout his life, often reflecting on the fond memories and friendships he forged during those formative years. He furthered his education by taking courses at Kent State University, always eager to learn and expand his horizons. Dan recently retired and moved back to Newton Falls from Walled Lake, Michigan, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and hard work. While Dan was a man of many interests, he had a particular passion for sports. He was an ardent supporter of all Cleveland Sports and The Ohio State University Buckeyes, cheering them on through every season with unwavering enthusiasm. Dan also found solace in the beauty of nature, often taking the time to appreciate moonlit nights that reminded him of the grandeur of the world around him. Dan's spirituality was a personal journey, one that guided him through the highs and lows of life with grace. He approached the world with an open heart, ready to offer support and a listening ear to anyone in need. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by those he leaves behind. His daughter, Ashley Nicole Richards; his mother, June Hymes; his brother, William (Cyd) Hymes; and his sisters, Lisa (Paul Hoerig) Hymes Martin and Kay Hymes will forever hold dear the moments they shared with Dan. His friend, Chris Burch, whom he considered a brother, and his special friend, Dodie Burk, will miss his presence deeply. Dan's nieces and nephews, whom he adored and teased in equal measure, will remember their uncle as a man who could light up a room with his humor and who always had a story or joke to share. His family will remember Dan as a pillar of strength, a source of wisdom, and a man who loved deeply and without reservation. Dan is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Carley Anne Richards; and his brother, David Richards; along with his fathers, Jerry Richards and William Hymes, and his sister, Carol Elwood. As we bid farewell to Daniel Allen Richards, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, joy, and an abundance of love. His legacy is one of kindness, friendship, and an unwavering commitment to his family. Dan's memory will be treasured by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, and his spirit will continue to inspire us every day. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and a private family service will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 with interment to follow in Hawley Cemetery.
