Gary Pomroy Obituary

Gary R. Pomroy, age 72 lifelong resident of Youngstown, entered the arms of his Savior in the early morning of Saturday July 20, 2024 surrounded by his family at home. Gary was born September 27, 1951 a son of Richard L. & Harriett Bryce Pomroy. He was a 1969 graduate of The Rayen High School. He was a banker for 30 years at Dollar Savings and Trust Company which later became National City Bank, and at his retirement in 2007 was Assistant Vice President of Underwriting. He attended First Christian Assembly Church in Liberty through the earlier part of his life, most recently attending Rush Church of Boardman. He loved attending Gospel music concerts, especially the Gaither Vocal Band. Gary enjoyed playing tennis, swimming, and was an avid golfer. He loved to travel, especially to Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach and Florida. He was a member of US Coast Guard Auxiliary for many years, and a former member of the Conneaut Boat Club and loved his time boating on Lake Erie. Gary loved his family more than anything. He was a devoted son and supportive brother, uncle and friend. He will be sadly missed by his family; his sister Karen L. (William) Lovitz of Youngstown, his favorite (and only) nephew Shon (Shannon) Barris of Youngstown, triplet nieces Sheli (Guy) Mathews of McDonough, GA., Sherli (Scott) Holbrook of Alger, OH., and Sheri (Scott) Swank of Nampa, ID. He also leaves many great nieces and nephews, Chase, Connor, Sydney, Alexis (Trent), Hunter, Hope, Zach, and Jadon and one great-great nephew Kayden. Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday July 24, 2024 at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home. There will be calling hours on Tuesday July 23, 2024 from 5-7 PM and Wednesday July 24, 2024 one hour prior to the service from 10-11 AM at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home. Gary will be laid to rest at Kinsman Township Cemetery. Special thanks and appreciation to The Hope Center for Cancer Care in Boardman. Gary enjoyed visiting with the incredible staff throughout his treatment time there. He never knew a stranger and was not going to let cancer stop him from meeting new people. Special thanks and appreciation to Transitions Home Health Care for the great staff and support that made it possible for him to be home surrounded by family and friends. Family and friends are invited to visit the funeral home's website at www.stewart-kyle.com to share memories and condolences.
