George Ochsenbine Obituary

George J. Ochsenbine, 78, of Bazetta, OH passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. He was born January 4, 1946, in St. Clairsville, OH, the son of the late Cloyed Ochsenbine Sr. and the late Bessie (Henry) Ochsenbine. George attended Leavittsburg High School. He retired as a millwright at Copperweld Steel, after 33 years of service. George was a veteran of the United States Army having served during Vietnam War and received the following decorations: Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Medal, Marksman (Rifle M-14), and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a member of Morgandale Church of the Nazarene, he loved God and his church family. He enjoyed tinkering, cars, hunting, and fishing. George loved music, singing, and playing the guitar and banjo. Most of all, he loved his family. George will be deeply missed by his wife of 56 years, Freda Ochsenbine; children, Christine (Tarin Sr.) Brown of Vienna, OH, Melinda (Darryl) Gomez of Winchester, VA, James (Kelly) Ochsenbine of Warren, OH, Star (Edward) Alflen of Cortland, OH, and Penny Coates of Niles, OH; grandchildren, Tarin (Ryanne) Jr., Nathan, Brittany, and Jordan (Savannah) Brown, Abigale and Anthony Gomez, James, Alivia, Sarah, and Susan Ochsenbine, Amber Alflen, Summer (Brevin) Riggs, Emerald and Jade Coates; great-grandchildren, Kaeden, Arabella, Braylin, Trey, and Emmalynn; and siblings, June Gordan, Theresa Little, Perry Ochsenbine, Ida Boyers, Betty Dunn, Marjie Mountain, Violet V. Bailey, Joanne Currence, Lily Fosnight, Robert Ochsenbine, and Ada Reiber. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his second mother, Violet I. Ochsenbine; siblings, Lester, Cloyed D. Jr., Oliver and Frank Ochsenbine, Margaret Pritts, Violet M. Nadiak, Donald and Ronald Groscope. Services will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, August 12, 2024, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home. Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home and again one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment will be in Champion Township Cemetery. Friends and family may view George's obituary and/or send condolences to his family by visiting carlwhall.com.
