James “Jimmy” Carmen Sherock of Niles passed away on October 3, 2024, at 11:29 am in Mercy Health – St.my Elizabeth Youngstown. He was 87 years old.
He was born in Warren on June 22, 1937, the son of the late Anthony and Lucy Matash Sherock.
Jimmy was a 1956 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and retired from the City of Niles Lighting Department after 35 years.
In 1962, he married the love of his life Anne Jonna Fonce after being together through high school.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Saint Pope John XXIII Parish.
Jimmy was a very talented athlete beginning in his high school days with football and throughout his life with baseball and golf. He was an amazing bocce player and participated in many tournaments throughout the area. Jimmy always enjoyed following his favorite Ohio teams, The Guardians, OSU and the Cleveland Browns. However, his favorite pastime involved being outdoors whether he was working on his enviable landscaping or garden or raising his champion bird dogs and beagles. One even held titles including a grand champion. He was also known for his great political instincts and helped with numerous local campaigns.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Anne Jonna Sherock; a daughter, Monica Dunn, and her fiancée Terry Smith of Niles; a sister, Shirley Loccisano, and her husband Dominic of Las Vegas; a sister-in-law, Barbara Sherock of Littleton, CO; 2 grandchildren, Michael Dunn, and his wife Christina of Niles, and Jonna Marie Baytos, and her husband Brian of Nashville, TN; a great granddaughter, Raegan; his grandpuppy, Rudy “Toots”; and several nieces and nephews in throughout Ohio, Colorado, and Las Vegas
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony “Moose” Sherock.

Jimmy, I am having 100 trees planted in your memory. How fitting You loved trees so much. This is so hard, I feel kind of lost. I keep dreaming of you. Playing Bocce and eating cannoli´s at an Italian club. You are without pain in these dreams. Guess what So am I. Until we hug again I will bug you with messages.
