James Vitez Obituary

On Thursday, March 28, 2024, James Andrew Vitez, age 92, of Youngstown, OH passed away peacefully at Austinwoods Nursing Center in Austintown. He was born May 7, 1931, in Milton Township, OH to Stephen and Mary Elizabeth (Tkach) Vitez. James honorably served his country in the United States Army from December 1950 until December 1952. Following his discharge, he was employed as a millwright in the auto manufacturing industry. He married Myrtle Marie Gearhart on June 28, 1954 and they spent an amazing 58 years together until her death on October 23, 2012. He is survived by grandchildren, John, Robin, Joan and great-grandchildren, Christopher, Scott. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, James was also preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Marie (Gearhart) Vitez; siblings, Stephen Vitez, Bertha Vitez, Velma Vitez, Margaret Vitez, Mary DeKane, Albert Vitez, Elsie Vitez, Veronica Vitez.
