Janet L. Altheide of Youngstown passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 5:39 a.m. in Omni Assisted Living. She was 81.
Janet was born in Youngstown on August 4, 1943, the daughter of the late David Avery and Elieen Wester Phillips.
She was a 1961 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and worked as a waitress at many local restaurants including Page’s Family Restaurant and the Iron Skillet.
Janet was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing bingo and taking a chance with the lottery or at the casino. She also liked to bowl.
She will be greatly missed by her 2 children, Norma (Richard) Spelich of Youngtown, and William F. Altheide of Youngstown; a brother, Ernie Avery of Girard; 6 grandchildren, Candace Kuhns, Tiffany Spelich, Angela Altheide, Alysia Altheide, Abby Altheide, and William Altheide Jr.; and numerous great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death in 2003 by her husband, William Altheide; and 5 siblings, her twin sister, Janice Rogers, sisters, Patricia Miller, and Carol Stowe, and brothers, David Avery, and George Avery.

Calling hours will be Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. in the Wm Nicholas Funeral Home & Cremation Services 614 Warren Ave. Niles, OH 44446.

I feel so lucky that I was given the ability to experience Mrs. Janet's voice. I will always remember her singing with me. She was so adored!
