Jason Kokoski Obituary
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Jay Kokoski, age 49, who left us unexpectedly on April 4, 2025. His untimely departure has left a profound emptiness in the hearts of all who knew him.
Jay was a shining light in every life he touched. Known for his kindness, generosity, and infectious sense of humor, he had the rare ability to make everyone around him feel special. Whether through his authentic smile, his laughter, or his unyielding support for friends and family, Jay made an indelible mark on the world.
Born on September 17, 1975, to parents John and Dana (Roth) Kokoski. Jay grew up in Austintown, where he was loved for his compassionate nature and genuine spirit. He graduated from Austintown Fitch High School in 1994. He was a member of the Fitch Falcons football team, where he made lifelong friends. He was affectionately called "Koko" or "Truck". He also played football for Mercyhurst University in Erie where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Science specializing in Biology. His memories of his football days were lifelong and he always referred to his friends and teammates as his brothers. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit Tigers fan and his enthusiasm for these teams were evident as he continuously bantered with his friends about whose team was better.
He was employed by Missions Delivery in sales and delivery and never missed a day of work. He enjoyed playing Keno and had an extraordinary love for animals. Jay was a true animal lover. His deep compassion for animals was one of the defining aspects of his character.
Although Jay's time with us was far too brief, he lived every day to the fullest, filling his life with meaningful moments and connections. He leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and positivity that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
He is survived by his Father, John Kokoski, his sister, Kristin (James) O'Neill, and his brother, Dr. James (Gina) Prommersberger. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews, to cherish his memory.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Dana Roth Kokoski, and his brother, Jeffrey Kokoski.
Rest in peace, Jay. You will forever be loved and never forgotten
