Joseph Cappello Obituary
Joseph W. Cappello Sr., 68, shuffled off this mortal coil on Saturday afternoon September 24, 2022 at his home while engaged in one of his many beloved hobbies. Joe was a resident of the Youngstown area for the majority of his life, he was a graduate of Chaney High School and Youngstown State University.
Joe was an accomplished electrical engineer for many Ohio based firms and specialized in automated manufacturing software that is responsible for many items we all use daily such as drywall, soda bottle caps, automotive robots and most proudly Cadbury creme eggs. Joe could tell you more about computer languages, brain melting mathematics and plc programming than anyone would have thought possible. He was always an example of having a strong work ethic and had only recently retired from full time employment.
Joe had many passions and hobbies outside his work, he was a dedicated sportsman and lover of the outdoors, encouraging responsible hunting and conservation of natural resources throughout his life. He was an avid astronomer, Ham radio operator, boater, expert ammunition reloader and aficionado of western movies. In recent years he had excitedly taken up cowboy action and military rifle shooting at Brookfield Conservation Club, activities he greatly enjoyed and became immersed in. Joe was a staunch believer in the 2nd Amendment and was known to inspire many in this pursuit. He strongly embraced the personal freedoms and values of this country, was unapologetically patriotic and supportive of Veterans. In life he was always unfailingly polite and pleasant with everyone he met.
Joe is survived by two sons, Joseph (Shonna) Cappello Jr. of Ashtabula, Anthony Cappello of Youngstown; step-children Laura, Matt and Greg; many grandchildren and his faithful companion Nosmo the dog.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Shirley Ann (March) Cappello whom he married on June 14, 2008 and who passed away on January 25, 2017.
