Joyce Irene (Cecil) Postlethwait passed away quietly on September 16th at the age of 81.
She was a Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and friend to many. She was loved for her candor, humor, kindness and laughter. Always devoted and loyal to those she loved.
Joyce was born in 1943 at Proctor Creek, Wetzel County, West Virginia to John and Doretta Cecil. She was one of their six children. She attended Magnolia High School in New Martinsville, West Virginia. After marriage and two children, Joyce moved with her family to Northeast Ohio in 1966 and remained in Trumbull County where she lived and worked until her life’s end. She retired from AVI Foods (Lordstown) and worked at Custom Packing in Lordstown. She was also employed in the Dietary Department at Hillside Hospital in Howland. Joyce would always return to Wetzel County where she helped build and renovate a camp/retreat near Wileyville. Known to everyone there as Joycey, she was the camp cook and house designer. Joyce enjoyed travel, gardening and was a self-educated birder. Joyce spent her retirement years living with her daughter Gloria Dodson in Cortland where she grew flowers and plants in a backyard garden. She enjoyed a happy and quiet life. She is survived by her daughter Gloria and son, Bryan Postlethwait, her granddaughter Kate Dodson and many nieces and nephews. There will be a private remembrance and celebration of her life for her closest family. Her light will forever shine in our hearts. She is now at peace among the stars.
