Kenneth A. Layshock age 73 formerly of Newton Falls passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Monday Sept 30, 2024 at St. Joseph Eastland Hospital in Warren. He was born on Nov. 30, 1950 in Warren, OH the son of the late Joseph J. Layshock and Ruth Marie (Smith) Layshock. Kenny has lived in Warren for the past 10 years formerly of Newton Falls where he graduated from Newton Falls High School in the Class of 1969. In 1970, he served in the US Air Force Reserves in the 910th TASGP Group at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station in Vienna, OH. Kenny was a self employed owner and operator of Ken's His & Hers Shop in Newton Falls for over 30 years and closed his doors in 2000. He also was a co -owner of the Verlay Condo Association in Newton Falls started in 2000, and was a Newton Township Trustee for 12 years. Kenny was a faithful and longtime member of the St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church in Newton Falls, and the Knights of Columbus in Newton Falls. He loved golfing, traveling, eating chocolate, spending his winters in Florida with Mary Ann, and watching college Football especially the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Kenny is preceded in death by his parents, and 1 sister: Nancy Moldovan.
He is survived by: his life- long partner: Mary Ann Metz of Warren, 2 sisters: Theresa & Bill Bartlett of Newton Falls, Debbie & Andy Christ of Champion, OH, 2 brothers: Paul & Susan Layshock of Warren, Pat & Sue Layshock of Newton Falls, and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Friday Oct. 4, 2024 from 6:00- 8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at the St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church in Newton Falls on Saturday Oct. 5, 2024 at 11:00am with Father David Merzweiler officiating. A prayer service will be at 10:30am at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the funeral service. He will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery in Newton Falls.
