Mark Masterson, Sr., Obituary AUSTINTOWN - Mark Masterson, Sr., 65, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, August 11, 2024, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by the love of his family. Mark was born February 17, 1959, in Welch, West Virginia, the son of Thomas Worth and Willie Jean Masterson. He was a 1977 graduate of Gorton High School in Yonkers, New York and came to the Youngstown area in 1995. Mark dedicated over 30 years of his life to the fabrication plant at General Motors in Lordstown until his retirement in 2018. His commitment to his work was only matched by his dedication to his country; Mark proudly served in the United States Army, a duty he held with honor and pride. Mark enjoyed visiting casinos, where the thrill of the games brought him joy. He was also an avid card player, always up for a friendly competition. In his younger years, Mark's athletic spirit shone brightly as he enjoyed playing softball and basketball. However, his greatest joy came from the time he spent with his family, who were the center of his world. He is survived by his three sons, Mark Masterson, Jr., Michael Masterson and Nathaniel Masterson, all of Austintown; his grandson, Landon Masterson; his mother, Willie Jean Masterson of Delaware; his sister, Ethel Jean Masterson-Moody of Delaware; and two nephews, Damin Masterson and Tevin Birch. Mark will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. His wife of 33 years, Joanne Masterson, whom he married September 28, 1991, passed away February 6, 2024. His father, Thomas Worth is deceased. Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, August 19, 2024, at Kinnick Funeral Home 477 N.
