Maurice Adolphus Hicks

COLUMBUS- Maurice Adolphus Hicks, age 85, of Columbus, Ohio, departed this life on February 24, 2025. He was born on November 28, 1939, in Guyana, South America, to the late Rev. James A. and Agnes Rogers Hicks. The family moved to the United States in 1952. Maurice graduated from Warren G. Harding High School where he was a member of the football team. Later in life, Maurice became a personal trainer at Warren Fitness and Gold's Gym, a career that allowed him to share his passion for fitness with many. He was also well known for his love of immaculate cars. Maurice retired from a long and successful career at General Motors Corporation. Maurice spent many years living in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, before moving to Columbus, Ohio, where he continued to create lasting memories with friends and family. He is survived by his two sons, Michael (Stephanie) Jones of Warren, Ohio and Gregory (Erika) Jones of Rome, Ohio, daughter Diana Jordan of Akron, Ohio; and his sister, Pansy (Raymond) Whiting of Warren, Ohio. He also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; a special friend, Emma Jones, and his niece and caregiver, Kim Whitney. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. James A. and Agnes Rogers Hicks, two brothers, Eric Ashley and Alfred Hicks, and his sister, Doreen Griggs. Maurice will be remembered for his love of family, passion for fitness, and his deep appreciation for the finer things in life. Calling hours will take place at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, 962 North Road NE, Warren, Ohio 44483, on Monday March 10, 2025, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00am, with Reverend Avan Odom officiating.
