Michael Gallagher Obituary
Michael Patrick Gallagher, 73, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025. He was born on January 24, 1952, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Thomas J. and Catherine M. (Smith) Gallagher. He was a beloved brother, uncle and friend.
Mike was raised on Youngstown's South Side where he first attended St. Dominic's Catholic School and then graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School in 1970. A natural leader, he forged many lifelong friendships during these early years. These same friends, along with family, surrounded him with love and support during his brief illness.
Following high school, Mike began a skilled trade apprenticeship with Genex Tool & Die. Upon completion, he embarked on a career spanning more than 40 years as a Journeyman Tool & Die Maker with GM/Packard Electric and its successor companies, including most recently APTIV.
Known for his sharp intellect, boundless curiosity, and unforgettable storytelling, Mike was a proud member of Mensa. His passion for learning and adventure fueled a love of travel. With his fleet of motorhomes, he explored the country, visiting museums, attending events, and seeking new destinations time and again.
Proud of his Irish heritage, Mike was an active member of the Trumbull County, Ohio Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH). He also belonged to several other organizations, including the Mahoning and Trumbull County Historical Societies, the Youngstown Saxon Club, and the Cortland Ohio Moose Lodge.
Mike is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Christine Gallagher of Andover, New Jersey; his partner, Colleen Patchin of Warren, Ohio; his nephew, Thomas Gallagher and wife Monica of Rockaway, New Jersey; his niece, Megan Gallagher of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; and countless dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Fox Funeral Home, 4700 Market Street, Boardman. A brief service will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at Lake Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mike's memory to Angels for Animals, 4750 West South Range Road, Canfield, Ohio 44406 (www.angelsforanimals.org), a cause he strongly supported.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Edward J. Fox & Sons Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. Boardman.
