Michael Kakish Obituary

AUSTINTOWN – Michael A. Kakish, 71, entered into eternal rest with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 21, 2024, after over 35 years of faithfully walking in his Christian faith. A man who faced life's trials with unwavering trust in God, Michael's journey exemplified resilience, grace, and the transformative power of faith. Michael was born December 11, 1952, to his beloved parents, the late Michael and Mary Woloschak Kakish, and lived in the area most of his life. He was a proud graduate of Chaney High School Class of 1970 and furthered his education at Youngstown State University. Michael delighted in family gatherings and found great joy in life's simple pleasures. A gifted artist, he expressed himself through painting and drawing, often inspired by his travels and the beauty of his well-tended gardens. His quick smile and genuine kindness touched everyone he met, leaving a lasting impression of warmth and compassion. A defining moment in Michael's life came when he recognized his need for a Savior. This realization led him to dedicate his life to sharing the gospel, extending God's message of hope and salvation to his neighbors and beyond. Michael leaves to forever cherish his memory his sister, Jo Anne (Randy) Brashen of Canfield; his niece, Jill (Max) Hammond of Gilmer, TX; his grandnephew, Dodge (Kaley) Hammond; his grandniece, Zoe Hammond and many cousins, friends, and those he inspired along his journey. A celebration of Michael's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Michael's memory to Windhaven House, 1012 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown, OH 44502, or Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Rd., Youngstown, OH 44514. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Windhaven House, Oasis Rehab, Aventura at Humility House, and Hospice House for the exceptional care and love shown to Michael in his final years. Michael's life is a testament to the truth of Philippians 1:21: "For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." He will be dearly missed but joyfully remembered by all who were blessed to know him.
