Robert D. Kennedy Sr.

McDonald- There will be private services held for Robert D. Kennedy 87, of McDonald, who passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family by his bedside early Sunday morning, August 17, 2025. Robert was born June 2, 1938, in Youngstown, Ohio the son of the late Wendell and Alma (Sheets) Kennedy and was a lifelong area resident. He was a 1956 graduate of Girard High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Army. After his military service, Robert worked at General Motors in Lordstown for 30 years before retiring. Robert enjoyed various hobbies including hunting, fishing with his three sons, bowling, and gardening. He cherished spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Robert was a member of St. Rose Parish in Girard and a member of the UAW 1112. 66 years ago, on July 31, 1959, Robert married the love of his life, the former Margie L. Holmes. Together, they raised four children. Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Besides his wife of 66 years Margie, he leaves behind his children: Robert Kennedy of Niles, Renee McIntyre and her Husband Mark of McDonald, John (Pam) Kennedy of Austintown, and Brian Kennedy of McDonald. He is also survived by his grandchildren whom he adored: Heidi (Jeff) Vanek of Canfield, Danielle McIntyre of Girard, Wesley, Justin, and Taylor Kennedy, and his great-grandchildren Emerson and Liam Vanek, Cameron, Nathan, and Everlyn Kennedy. Robert is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Wendall and Ronald Kennedy, Margaret Schesler, and Janet Kennedy.
