Robert Zelinski Obituary
Poland– Robert J. "Zeke" Zelinski, 83, The patriarch of the Zelinski family. A gentle giant who loved God and treasured his family especially his beloved wife Patty, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, Oct. 21, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born March 19, 1940, in Youngstown, the son of John and Rosemary Fok Zelonish.
Bob worked for Wean United until the late 70's and then in the early 80's went back to school for heating and AC repair. Upon graduation he owned and operated RJZ's Major Appliance Repair. He worked tirelessly at his profession. If it was the middle of the night or a holiday, Bob was there to fix your equipment.
He was an avid sports fan of all the Cleveland teams. Bob played many years in the Steel Valley Softball League for the Park Inn and Teenie's Tavern teams. He was a contributing originator of the first girls' softball league at Mill Creek in 1974 and managed the Bear's Club team. Bob enjoyed playing cards with his buddies, along with exercising and continuing to go to the Boardman YMCA up until the last few months.
The most important part of his life was his many grandchildren. They brought him so much joy, he could not help but come home for lunch whenever they were there with sweet treats in hand and hugs to go along with them. He and Patty were always traveling to grandkid's events regardless of the time or distance.
Bob enjoyed going on drives with his wife Patty, especially to Conneaut Township Beach.
He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle in New Middletown.
Bob proudly served his country with the US Army from 1959 to 1962 based in Europe.
His wife Patricia "Patty" (Viano), whom he married June 29, 1964, passed away July 1, 2020. Bob will always be remembered lovingly by his three children, Rob Zelinski, Gayle (Dave) Bartholomew, and Desiree (Dan) Santangelo; daughter-in-law, Alanna Zelinski; six grandchildren, Alexa (Micah) Mathis, Robby Zelinski, Jessica (Jared) Consiglio, and Alyson, Alex, and Ava Santangelo; two great-granddaughters, Thea and Hallie Mathis; and a brother, Edward Zelonish.
Besides his wife and parents, Bob was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Zelonish.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 27, 2023, at the funeral home.
