Samuel Tullio, Sr. Obituary

Youngstown – Samuel A. Tullio, Sr.,87, of Youngstown, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, at Mercy Health – St. Joseph Hospital. Born November 20, 1937, in Youngstown and raised in Campbell, Ohio, Sam was the son of the late Nicholas and Josephine Tullio. A 1956 graduate of North High School, he went on to serve his country proudly in the United States Navy. On January 12, 1974, Sam married the love of his life, the former Rosemarie McCune, with whom he shared many happy years until her passing on July 28, 2019. Sam had a strong work ethic and spent many years employed with Danborn Construction and Commuso Paving. In his early years, he was the proud owner and operator of Mrs. Bee's Restaurant in Struthers. A man of service, Sam volunteered as a firefighter for both the Coitsville and Struthers Fire Departments. An active member of his community, Sam was affiliated with numerous organizations, including the AMVETS in Struthers, the American Legion Post 247 in Lowellville, the Youngstown Veterans Association, the Red Hawks, the Odd Fellows, the Struthers Historical Society, and the Struthers Gridiron Club. Sam and Rosemarie were also actively involved in the Canfield international building at the Canfield Fairgrounds where he was also a parking attendant. Sam is survived by his loving children: Valarie (Jim) Dodge of Poland, Terri (John) Pollard of Albany, GA, Patty Watson of Youngstown, Glenn (Karen) McGahan of Akron, David (Karen) McGahan of Niles, Robert Tullio of Youngstown, and Michelle (Dr. Tom) Bailey of Austintown. He leaves behind a legacy of 18 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, Nicholas Tullio of New Castle, PA, and John R. (Sandra) Tullio of Poland, OH; and Sam's special friend, Patricia Williams, who took such wonderful care of him. In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Sam was preceded in death by his son, Samuel Tullio Jr.; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Tullio. and his sister-in-law, Laurel Tullio. Family and friends may call on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St., Struthers, Ohio.
