William Keyes Obituary

In loving memory of William Anthony Keyes, a cherished soul whose light shone brightly from April 1, 1979, until September 29, 2025. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, Wiliam, known for his infectious smile and sharp wit, entered the world on April Fool's Day-a fitting birth date for a man whose laughter often echoed through the hearts of all who knew him William graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. A kind-hearted spirit who soaked in the sun's rays and found joy in every moment, William was much more than a landscaper; he was a keeper of nature's beauty, self-employed in the art of lawn care. With a keen eye for fashion and an unwavering loyalty to his beloved NFL Colts, he embraced life with an enthusiasm that was truly contagious. An intellectual at heart, he delved into the headlines and matters of the world, unfurling layers of knowledge in conversation, often punctuated by his signature humor. Those blessed to witness William's playful side were met with laughter and joy, as he delighted in his favorite TV programs, including the stirring "breaking news" cycles of CNN, karate flicks with Bruce Lee, and the laughter-filled episodes of "Martin." Always embracing the moments of being present, William had a mean "two -step" move whenever on the dance floor! Family was the center of William's universe, whether hanging out and playing video games or caring for stray animals, he found happiness in shared moments. He was the proud guardian to his beloved rescued bunny, Sea Biscuit, who brought him immense joy. Raised by his grandmother, William cherished the warmth of family bonds, appreciating old-school classic automobiles and creating memories that will ripple through time. Though he was an introvert by nature, the warmth of his spirit drew others in, revealing a vibrant personality that left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he encountered. William is survived by his daughter, Reginae Sanders; companion, Sherese Tomlin; mother, Donna Sanders; sisters, Noelle Padgett, Wilasia Sanders, Surrender Sanders, Salinda Sanders, and Rachel Lively; he also enjoyed an expansive score of family and friends which includes his granddaughter, an aunt Cynthia Sanders and cousin, Valina Lively. Preceding him in death, his father William Sanders; grandmother Villa Sanders and brothers Earl Lively and Michael Cox. William's absence will be deeply felt, yet his spirit will forever illuminate the lives he touched. His generosity shone brightly when he blessed individuals demonstrated throughout his life. As a final act of this consistently displayed selflessness, William was a tissue and organ donor which is affording others an enhanced quality of life. Memorial services to celebrate William's life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at the Jaylex Event Center, 2110 Glenwood Avenue. Friends and family will unite to exchange memories, share stories, appreciate laughter, and embrace love, reflecting upon a remarkable man who was dedicated to his family, compassionate to others with a humorous soul and a gentle spirit. At this time of intimate need and personal loss, the family of William Anthony Keyes elected to entrust the Ministry of Comfort & Care, along with Transitional After-Care Arrangements to the J. E.
