Doris Tallant Obituary

Doris R. Tallant

A viewing will be held at the Conger-Morris Funeral Home in Central Point, Ore., on Wednesday, August 2, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The memorial service for Doris R. Tallant will be held August 3, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. at the Community of Christ Church, 10663 Meadows Rd., White City, Ore., 97503, 541-826-2927. Take Hwy. 62, left on Hwy. 234, and right on Meadows Road. The family invites all Mom's friends and family to attend. Interment following at V.A. Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.

Doris was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on July 2, 1923, to Guy and Ruth Boldes. She married Lewis D. Tallant in Salem, Mo., on January 26, 1946, who preceded Doris in death in 1986. They had six children, Stephen, Christy, Lynn, Deborah, Rachel and John.

Doris was a professional artist, a loving mother, and a fine friend to have. Graduating Valedictorian from Salem High School in the class of 1941, she went on to become a registered nurse, completing her training in Independence, Mo., September 1944. She entered the Army Nurse Corps as a Second Lieutenant in February, 1945, where she served 9 months in Manila with the 4th General Army Hospital at Fort McKinley.

Doris loved life, and she loved to travel, enjoying many road trips with her children. Doris moved to the Rogue Valley in 1978 where she became a member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon. One of her greatest joys was entertaining her family and friends with lovely parties and well-defended board games at her home. She also greatly enjoyed the many birds that visited the waterfall and bird feeders on her property.

Doris rose to the challenges life brings to us all with dignity and grace. She possessed an indomitable spirit, a steadfast faith, and a family that loved her dearly. That family wants to give its warmest thanks and gratitude to mother's caregivers of many years: Karen, Alisa, Linda, Romelle, Rebecca, Anna, Bernie, Christina, Lori and Joan. Their loving care and kindness will long be remembered with gratitude and appreciation.

Arrangements by Conger Morris of Central Point.

Doris was very special to me and it was a blessing to me to be able to love and care for her over the 4 years I was with her. We sure shared great moments - she loved life and her family. I will miss her very much.
