Ray Edward Tallant, Sr., 82, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at home peacefully and went to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He was saved on Monday, May 1, 1955, at his home and was a U.S. veteran of the Marine Corps from 1960 -1964, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Corps.
A member of Welcome Valley Baptist Church, he loved his church but fought a lengthy battle of sicknesses that took him away from his church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one great-grandchild, Kagen Levi Nicholes; two brothers, Kenneth Tallant and Alvie Stone; one sister, Peggy Harvey.
He leaves behind his precious Godly wife of 27 years, Agnes Tallant; 3 children, Patricia (Jason) Sharp, Ray (Tammy) Tallant, Jr., and Glenda (Robert) Liles; 3 step-sons, Calvin (Cindy) Locke, Marvin Locke, and Mitchell Locke; grandchildren, Elijah Tallant, Houston Forgery, Mercedes (Michael) Blose, Jeremy Nichols, Amanda (Brian) Mayfield, and Gage Locke; extended grandchildren, Alyssa Ledford, Tyler Ledford, Chloe Ledford, and Brandon Ledford; great-grandchildren, Layne Mayfield, Rylie Mayfield, Chance Mayfield, Braxton Mayfield, Camila Locke, Kaine Ledford, and Kaiden Liles, newborn baby girl, Baelynn Leger; 8 step-grandchildren, 3 step great-grandchildren; three sisters, Imogene (Palmer) Harville, Judith Young, and Gladys (Morris) Whitner; and a host of friends and loved ones.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Thursday, January 29, 2026, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home of Benton, with Pastor Edward Swallows, Pastor Chad Maxwell, and Pastor Jake Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Mtn. View Baptist Church Cemetery in Brock Graveyard, with Elijah Tallant, Jeremy Nichols, Houston Forgery, Nick Jones, Terry Stonecipher, Philip Jones, Nick Boyd, Ethan Boyd, Rylie Mayfield, Layne Mayfield, and Gage Locke serving as pallbearers.
His family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
